When it comes to home improvement shows on Australian TV, The Block stands head and shoulders above everything else. The spectacle of couples taking on epic renovation projects has captivated the nation (and led to more than a couple of on-screen meltdowns and lots of drama).

This year’s series saw the contestants breathing new life into the run-down Gatwick Hotel in St Kilda. Originally built in the 1850s (with some updates added in the early 1900s), this formerly grand old building had definitely seen better days before The Block performed its magic and transformed it from drab to fab.

As you’d expect with a building of this vintage, significant improvements were needed to bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st-century and provide the level of safety, comfort and convenience expected from a modern luxury apartment. 

For one apartment in The Block, this included installing a Cibes Platform Lift - which was supplied and installed by our East coast associate Nordic Elevators.
